Description

A COMMUNITY CLAY "PAY WHAT YOU WISH" EVENT

Celebrate PRIDE through creativity and clay. Join us for a special handbuilding workshop where you'll craft a sculptural self-portrait plate.

No clay experience? No problem! All skill levels are welcome. A teacher will guide you through the basics of handbuilding techniques in a fun, affirming space. Your finished plate can be a catch all, incense burner, jewelry holder or something else! All materials included. Plates will be dipped in a clear, food-safe glaze.

This Project is supported in part by an award from the RiNo Art District and is pay-what-you-wish. $10 minimum. The workshop is geared towards members of the 🌈 community. All identities and expressions welcome.

This class takes place at 3349 Blake St. Sunday, June 1, 5-7pm.

ABOUT YOUR TEACHER:

Hi, I'm Sydney. I also go by Syd and Squid. I'm a ceramic artist, photographer, and teacher. My work is about seeing yourself in a piece of art and living fantastically and creatively through clay. My primary focus as an artist is my figurine work which centers around trans, non-binary, and non-white bodies and mythology. I work with low and mid-fire stoneware out of my home and a local community studio. I am also a youth and adult teacher who hopes to instill in my students the infinite possibilities that have been and can be created through ceramics.

Handbuilding is a traditional method of creating with clay and does not include use of the potter's wheel. Learn more about handbuilding
