Not sure when to prune? Or where on the plant? Or even how??? All of these questions, and more, will be discussed, demonstrated, and practiced in this hands-on course.
Knowing when, and how, to prune, is one of the most important tasks we can learn as gardeners. It's true: you can hire an arborist to handle the heavy lifting, but taking care of young trees, and all of your shrubs is a task that any gardener can learn and handle with ease, once given the tools.
Aside from being one of my favorite classes to teach, empowering home gardeners with the skills they can take home and implement that day is life-changing. I personally find pruning to be both meditative and a break from some of the other tasks in the garden. It's a time for me to get up close to the plant, and see how it's doing.
Here's what one Master Gardener that took this course with us had to say "I've taken a lot of classes on pruning, and this is the best one I've ever attended."
Combining my more than 15 years of teaching adults new skills, along with years of experience in the gardens doing this exact work, this class is only offered one time a year.
Course cost includes a brand new pair of ARS Pruning shears 130DX, for you to use in the class, and take home for your personal use. Snips retail at $45.00 and are what the Gardeners at Laughing Goat use every day in their work, for everything from pruning, to harvesting, to dividing dahlias. We do. not allow outside snips or pruning tools to be used on our plants for sanitary/health reasons.
Garden Gloves, please bring your own.
For safety reasons, this is an adults-only course, as we do not allow children to handle tools in our garden spaces. Thank you for understanding.
