Proxymoron Productions is a theatrical production company based in the Charlotte region. We strive to present shows that celebrate and forge communities, as well as highlight the talents of our local artists. Our actors are the proxy for the characters they play, and audiences suspend their disbelief to see both the character and the performer at the same time. Celebrating and embracing this contradiction is the origin of our name.
Mr. Kipps is troubled by disturbing memories of his journey to fog bound Eel Marsh, where Mrs Drablow’s lonely house stands in isolation. Trapped by the fog, he witnessed mysterious events he would rather forget, but cannot. In desperation, he enlists the help of an actor to tell his tale and exorcise the demons that haunt his dreams. As the two men become immersed in Kipps’ story, eerie events materialize from the mists of the past and begin to haunt the present.
Susan Hill’s classic ghost story, adapted for the stage by Stephen Mallatratt, will have you watching through your fingers, laughing out loud, and gasping at the spooky twists in an unforgettable theatrical experience.
Please note that this performance contains potentially frightening or distressing material that might not be suitable for all audiences, including the topic of the death of a child. If you have any questions about show content, please email us at email@example.com.
The play is presented in two acts, with one 15-minute intermission.
Doors open at 7:30, performances begin at 8:00.
This production is presented "in the round", meaning the audience surrounds the stage on all sides. Please be aware that you will be visible to other patrons during the show. We ask that all attendees be considerate of your fellow audience members, and have phones turned off for the duration of the performance.
