The Michigan Grape Society is excited to invite Simonit & Sirch for an exclusive pruning school at the Southwest Michigan Research and Extension Center and Jon Hinkelman's Farm. Day 1 will be hosted at the Southwest Michigan Research and Extension Center, and Day 2 will be hosted at The Hinkelman Farm at 5950 East Empire Ave, Benton Harbor, MI 49022.
Simonit & Sirch tutors will guide you in the application of pruning techniques to safeguard the health, longevity, and sustainability of your vines and your vineyard.
The four basic principles of Simonit & Sirch pruning, applied to Guyot, will be explored:
respecting sap flow
controlling branching
reducing the number of wounds
making small pruning cuts
This two-day course will take place March 4th and 5th and is limited to 16 people for the best hands on experience possible. Lunch will be provided both days.
Simonit & Sirch is the only international consulting and training company in vine pruning.
They are known as the Vine Master Pruners, their team has extensive experience in training projects in France, Italy and worldwide. As consultants, they are involved in projects from the earliest stages of vineyard planting and typically provide full consulting services for pruning and training vines from root to adult vine. Their expertise and consultancy skills extend beyond pruning management to include the design of new training systems, leaf wall management, soil and vineyard analysis, and vine surgery.
