OPEN SKATING RULES & POLICIES

  • All guests must wear skates on the ice. No street shoes are permitted.
  • No carrying children/babies on the ice.
  • No excessive speed, roughness, racing, weaving, playing tag, or skating in chains.
  • Do not obstruct the flow of skating or block rink entries/exits.
  • Skate counter-clockwise.
  • Open skaters/spectators may not sit on the team benches or the boards.
  • No food, drinks, or gum is permitted on the ice.
  • Blue skate helpers are to be used by beginner skaters only.
  • Treat others with respect. No fighting, swearing, bullying, or yelling.
  • No sticks or pucks on the ice.
  • No figure skating jumps or spins.
  • In the event of an injury, notify a Rink Guard or Rink Personnel immediately.
  • Follow all Rink Guard’s directions/requests.
  • Assumption of Risk: Ice skating/roller skating is an active sport with significant inherent risks of injury.  As such, patrons freely agree to assume and accept any and all known and unknown risks of injury while skating and agree to release both the operator and all those associated with the facility from any and all liability.


    ***Anyone not abiding by the posted or stated rules and regulations or exhibiting behavior that may endanger the safety of self or others may be asked to leave the ice and/or facility without a refund. By purchasing an open skate admission, you agree to abide by these rules.***

The Greater Canandaigua Civic Center opened in 1992 and welcomes over 40,000 visitors annually.
Located in the scenic Finger Lakes Region, the GCCC offers 17,000 square feet of unobstructed space
with seating for 700 to 1,000 spectators & guests.  With parking for over 200 vehicles and easy access
from the NYS Thruway, the GCCC is ideal for many activities.
