Description

Rabbi Brian Zachary Mayer grew up at Congregation Rodeph Sholom—pre-school, kindergarten, Bar Mitzvah, and Confirmation Class of 1985. His family sat “Rabbi’s side, row G” for four generations, and his face still appears in the framed Confirmation photo on the sixth floor.

Over the years, Rabbi Brian has returned to CRS for sacred family milestones—from offering blessings at his nieces’ B’nai Mitzvah to eulogizing his father. Now he returns with wit, wisdom, and a message that speaks to anyone who’s ever felt like they didn’t quite fit the mold.

In 2006, he founded Religion-Outside-The-Box (rotb.org), a platform reimagining spiritual connection beyond institutional walls. His third and most beloved book, Rabbi Brian’s Highly Unorthodox Gospel, offers a heartfelt, humorous look at religious autonomy, spiritual authority, and the divine.

Join us for this deeply personal homecoming with one of our own. Come ready to laugh, reflect, and think differently about what it means to believe.
