Description
Join us on Thursday, February 26 from 6–8 PM as we celebrate the opening of our newest art exhibit with an evening reception featuring artist Rachel Wheeler.
This reception is an opportunity to meet Rachel, hear about her creative process, and experience her beautiful collection in person. In addition to the pieces that will be displayed on our wall in the coming months, Rachel will also have select merchandise and originals available for purchase during the reception only.
Rachel grew up in the small town of Oil City, PA where she was surrounded by a creative and artistic family. From an early age her love for drawing far outweighed all other things and soon she wanted nothing but to be an artist. With her family’s encouragement she began to pursue art as a career and attended Saint Vincent College. Rachel graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor in Studio Arts in 2017. After residing in Latrobe, PA for three years she returned to Oil City to raise a family with her husband, and now has three beautifully wild children.
Her current work focuses on creating a sense of wonder for seemingly mundane events that happen every day in the natural world around us. Like feeling a breeze on the river, watching the sunlight fade beyond the horizon, or listening to the quiet rustle of the trees. Each day holds profound moments of awe but we must be ready to stop and experience it. For Rachel, whether it’s capturing a glowing sunset, delicate flowers or humble bees, each painting is ultimately an ode to the original artist; God.
To this day she continues to perfect her talents by working as a professional artist at night while her kids sleep. Her recent achievements include acceptance into the '24 Minis' Juried Exhibit (2024 & 2025) at The Manos Gallery in New Kensington, PA, and receiving 1st Place and 'Best Of Show' for her painting ‘Morning Renewal’ in the Oil Heritage Festival Art Show. She is proud to share her talents and serve her clients by creating custom paintings and depicting the natural beauty all around us.
