Join us for a special Raku Workshop for members. To Join this special event, you need to first sign up for the Member Appreciation Raku Firing. You can sign up for one spot on either night.

Step into the dramatic world of alternative firing with our Raku Throwing & Materials Pop-Up Workshop. Built specifically for members who signed up for Raku Firing during our Member Appreciation Week, this targeted session explores the material science, specialized forms, and surface prep required for successful raku firing.

Workshop Focus Areas

  • Raku Clay Dynamics: Dive into high grog clay formulations, exploring thermal shock resistance, moisture absorption, and structural stability under sudden extreme temperature shifts.

  • Specialized Throwing Techniques: Learn how to adapt your wheelwork for raku,focusing on wall tension, rim geometry, and foot ring construction engineered to withstand rapid heating and cooling.

  • Raku Glaze Chemistry & Prep: Understand the unique behavior of raku glazes, from crackle formulations and metallic reduction lusters to proper application thickness for intense flames.
