Description

Class description:  Have you ever thought of teaching rosemaling? If not, it may be something for you to consider. It's important for rosemalers to share this beautiful art with others in order to keep the tradition of rosemaling alive. Teaching a beginning rosemaling class is a great first step. The demand for rosemaling instruction is greater than the current supply of teachers, especially for beginning rosemaling. Join Judy Velde Weiss as she shares - ways to start teaching, what should be covered in a beginning class, differences between a true-beginner and beginner class, class planning and prep, available resources, and instruction best practices.

Instructor biography: Being of all Norwegian descent, Judy grew up surrounded by Norwegian culture and rosemaling. After taking her first rosemaling class she was hooked. Within a year, she had studied under four gold medalists, as well as other talented area rosemalers. Since that time, she has taken countless in-classroom and online classes in Telemark, Hallingdal, Os, Valdres, Gudbrandsdal, and Raudsaumsmaling; as well as design classes in Telemark, Hallingdal, and Gudbrandsdal. Her medium of choice is oil paint, although she has studied and painted in acrylics. Judy's rosemaling has earned her several ribbons at the Minnesota State Fair, two of which were blue ribbons.
