Reduction Block Printing - Holiday Card Edition!

Create a multi-color print from just one block! Using reduction block printing techniques, this hybrid workshop will get you ready to send handmade holiday cards.

 

Reduction block printing is used for creating a limited edition of prints. Once you're done printing a color, you continue carving the same block for the next color. There's no going back! This class is meant for students who have some familiarity with block printing or have taken one of our Block Printing Workshops. 

 

This hybrid, three-day workshop will take you through all the details, design creation, and color selection. Prints will be on paper we provide, or you can bring your own items such as fabric or wood panels.

Class will take place on:

• Thursday, November 30: 10 am-12 pm, Online (Instruction by Maxx on reduction printing and how to create designs.)
• Friday, December 1: 10 am-2 pm, In-person at Push/Pull (Come with designs and start carving & printing)
• Saturday, December 2-10 am-2pm, In-person at Push/Pull (Finish last layers of carving and printing)

 

All materials and tools are provided, though you are welcome to bring your own cards to print on. This class is recommended for students 15 and up. You will need paper and suggested tracing paper to create your design. A package of appropriate paper will be available for you at Push/Pull to pick up during retail hours once you have registered. 

RJ and Maxx are our printmaking instructors at Push/Pull. They regularly experiment with screen printing, block printing, and hybrid techniques. They can't wait to make prints with you!
