Description

Sponsored by Cave Hill Cemetery and Heritage Foundation.

As a recipient of the Bernheim Artist Residency, artist Gabriella Boros highlighted ten remarkable Kentucky women and matched them with native Kentucky plants that represented their accomplishments. Through this work, she created ten woodblock prints, which were enlarged to create the banners that now hang around Lake Nevin at Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest. In this presentation, Boros will describe the research and thought process for choosing the women represented, the further research needed for creating the images, and will describe the woodblock printmaking process. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions.

Gabriella Boros has shown her prints, paintings and multimedia works nationally and internationally. Currently focusing on woodblock prints, Gabriella also paints, draws and sculpts.  Born in Israel, Gabriella immigrated to the US as a child. She has a BFA from the University of Michigan School of Art.
