Description
Want to learn about the ins and out of restoring grasslands in a hydro corridor? Then come join us as part of the GTHA ROW Pollinator Habitat Community of Practice for a tour with Roy Mosher, Restoration Coordinator with the Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority (CLOCA) on August 19th!
We will be meeting at Long Sault at 10 am (exact meet up location will be shared closer to the date), where Roy will speak to the history of the restoration project, its goals, methods used, and other relevant background. We will then tour the restored areas as a group, taking a look at the more recently seeded meadow section that CWF partnered on as well as older sections to compare what establishment looks like in a restored grassland throughout the years.
Please note there will be uneven terrain as we will be walking off-trail to access the restored areas. It is strongly recommended you wear long pants, closed-toe boots, and tall socks in case of ticks, and sun protection.
Following the tour, we will go for an offsite lunch at a nearby restaurant as a group, with costs for food and non-alcoholic drinks covered by CWF. This will be a chance to chat with the group, network, and discuss all things grassland restoration! Please note you will require your own transportation.
We thank the 407 ETR for their sponsorship enabling this event.
