Share The SALTLAND Theatre Festival, located in Syracuse, NY, is a celebration amplifying underrepresented voices through innovative theatrical works. The festival will take place in venues across the city from April 28th to May 7th of 2023. Festival productions will include a mix of brand new works and innovative re-tellings of previously produced work.

The performers and storytellers of Revelatory Readings started their journey together through improv theaters in Syracuse, including workshops with Breadcrumbs, Inc., the Downtown Writers Center, and Scranton Improv & Comedy in PA. Additionally, they have performed and produced for numerous shows throughout the Syracuse area with the Syracuse Improv Collective, including “Girls Night Out” a 2019 improv event at Wunderbar, as well as shows with Salt City Improv and Scranton Improv and Comedy. Some performers shared the stage as part of a former improv team called Susan Be Anything. Previous performing experience includes Peoples Improv Theater in NYC, the Del Close Improv Marathon in New York City, the Hartford Improv Festival, and local storytelling and improv shows in Syracuse. Collectively, they have trained with the Annoyance Theater in NYC, NYU Theatre, Second City, Magnet Theater, Camp Improv Utopia, Bad Dog Theatre, and the Scranton Fringe Festival.
Revelatory Readings: A Show of Improvised Comedy and Storytelling” combines the arts of improv and storytelling in a show of live comedy. It explores engaging works of art read by the show’s storyteller. Inspired by words from an intriguing love letter, poem, diary entry, or text message, performers create improvised characters and scenes. The show takes themes, premises, and ideas from the individual work into new places, scenarios, and situations. This production invites audience members to come along for the experience, as storytellers and improvisers give a “revelatory” reading that’s never been performed before. Join us for one night or more as each show offers a unique experience that features a new revelatory reading.
