On Saturday, November 19th at 7pmThe Paradise Theater presents “Revival” — a concert celebrating the songwriting of Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, as interpreted by Gabrielle Louise and Ryan Dilts.
Gabrielle Louise and Ryan Dilts are a pairing of sensitivity and force, performing songs that combine Americana, folk and bluegrass traditions. Gabrielle’s emotive vocal delivery and songwriting is elevated by the nuance and precision of Ryan’s guitar work. It seems to dance in pattern with her, weaving a hypnotic spell that transports the listener and suspends the sensation of time.
Gabrielle joins Ryan in this duo project on the heels of a long career as a recording artist, songwriter, and touring musician. Known for her authenticity and candor on stage, her performances are present and sincere; a professional presentation of her private creative world. She has had the opportunity to open for greats from Guy Clark to Richie Havens.
Grown from the bluegrass tradition, Ryan's flatpicking has a crystalline quality that converses with Gabrielle's voice eloquently. While their material harnesses the authenticity of folk music, it is arranged with a sophistication that aims to honor their musical heroes.
Gabrielle and Ryan create a full landscape of sound using only their two guitars and voices, employing deep listening to create dynamic arch in their arrangements. Gillian Welch and David Rawlings have served as a template for their journey of merging musical skill sets and strengths. And so, in the spirit of tribute, this concert will celebrate the musical roots from which Gabrielle and Ryan have grown.
In this two set concert, you can expect to hear a set of original music by Gabrielle and Ryan followed by a set covering the songs from the record Revival, Gillian Welch’s seminal work. Join us for an evening of intricate guitar work that celebrates the craftsmanship of songwriting.
Tickets are $20 in advance and $22 the day of the show.
The Paradise Theatre is an intimate non-profit theatre located in the heart of Downtown Paonia. Our mission is to build community through educational events, live music, film, and theater. The historic entertainment venue was built in 1928 and formed into a non-profit in 2014. From it's inception, the Paradise has been a gathering place for the community. Our standing room capacity is 200 and our seated capacity is 119. We offer organic popcorn and snacks, locally produced wines and liquors, hard cider, and a full bar with speciality cocktails.
