Our annual theatrical whirlwind returns with The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, the beloved Broadway hit packed with big laughs, unforgettable country tunes, and enough charm to fill an entire Lone Star State. In just one week, a fearless cast will rehearse, build, and bring this musical comedy to life before your very eyes. Whether you're a part of the cast or cheering from the audience, it's a celebration of community, creativity, and the exhilarating magic that happens when talented people come together to make theatre at lightning speed.

Set in the legendary Chicken Ranch, the beloved musical follows the colorful women who call the famous Texas brothel home as they find themselves caught in the crosshairs of a self-righteous television crusader determined to shut them down. With the town sheriff caught between duty and the love of the establishment's charismatic owner, Miss Mona, the story becomes a heartfelt, hilarious celebration of friendship, loyalty, community, and embracing the people who make a place feel like home. Featuring infectious country tunes, unforgettable characters, and more than a little Texas-sized charm, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas is the perfect musical for a week of joyful, theatrical mayhem.

The Ringwald's mission is to engage diverse audiences through fresh, risk-taking theatrical experiences. Seasons will include productions focusing primarily on newer works, previously un-produced scripts, and innovative interpretations of seasoned classics.

The Ringwald opened our doors to our Ferndale location at 9 Mile & Woodward in May of 2007 with Fatal Attraction: A Greek Tragedy and quickly became a mainstay of Detroit’s theatre community. 

In a newly-formed partnership with Affirmations LGBTQ+ Community Center, The Ringwald will open their new home inside the center in the fall of 2021 after temporarily shutting its doors at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, despite a successful 14 year residency on Woodward and 9 mile.
