Welcome to the RIVER CITY GOSPEL FEST, a soul-stirring concert event being promoted by The Risen Word Ministries, LLC. of Danville, VA. It is designed to uplift your spirit and ignite your faith. This gathering of gospel music enthusiasts promises to be an unforgettable experience, taking place at the renowned venue, The Tabernacle, in the heart of Danville, Virginia.

River City Gospel Fest is featuring 3 nights of great Southern Gospel Music in 2025. Located in the City of Danville, The Tabernacle Church provides the perfect setting for our gospel fest. Known for its amazing acoustics and intimate setting, The Tabernacle promises an immersive experience filled with the power and beauty of gospel music.
Featuring Saturday, May 3, 2025 beginning at 6:00PM we will have the Rogers Family. The Rogers Family originated in Northeast Georgia where Ray & Helen. Rogers, and their daughter, Kim, sang in churches with Kim playing the piano. Kim met Sammy Shields at a church in North Carolina, and they married in 1999. They have three children: Rebekah, 23; Samuel, 20; & Hannah, 15. Helen, Kim, Sammy, Rebekah, Samuel, & Hannah is the current group that travels and sings today, with Kim still the pianist, and is blessed to carry on the tradition of southern gospel music.
Our Main group will feature: The Kingsmen Quartet. For more than a half a century, no group has secured such a far reaching legacy like that of The Kingsmen Quartet. Since 1956, this group has risen from humble beginnings in the mountains of western North Carolina to one of the most beloved and innovative groups in Christian music. Countless renowned artists have been a part of this great lineage, eight of which have been inducted into the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame; such as Eldridge Fox, “Big” Jim Hamill, Ray Dean Reese, Squire Parsons, Anthony Burger, Martin Cook, Mark Trammell, & Ernie Phillips. The momentum has not stopped as this group continues to help define the Southern Gospel genre for a whole new generation of music lovers, perhaps more so than any other group.

Featuring Friday, May 8, 2025 beginning at 6:00PM we will have Scotty Inman. Music runs through Scotty Inman’s veins. A second generation vocalist, Scotty’s music career has taken him around the world and allowed him to share the message of Christ on stages that many only dream of. With messages of faith, family and life woven deep with his lyrics, the 4-time BMI awarded singer/songwriter is breaking the mold and forging a path all his own. .
Our Main group will feature: The Down East Boys. Since their inception in 1985, the Down East Boys have been making great music. A mainstay in the Gospel Industry, their name is synonymous with classic quartet harmony and songs that have stood the test of time. Though their tenure as a leading quartet spans several decades, their music remains relevant and their name is consistently at the top of the radio singles chart. Despite their success and the many accolades that have come their way, their goal remains the same as it was when they started—to take the Gospel of Jesus to all the world.
Featuring Saturday, August 9, 2025 beginning at 6:00PM we will have The Lawsons. God blessed Terry and Christy with four children--Jonathan, Joshua, Hannah, & Justus. The kids began singing with their dad at a young age. The Lord has given many opportunities through the years for our family to minister and encourage others in their walk for Christ. When we look back over the years, we truly see the blessings of God in our lives. The Lord is so good!
Our Main groups will feature: Jeff & Sheri Easter with The Down East Boys. Jeff & Sheri have been nominated for numerous Dove Awards and won nine. They’ve also received two career Grammy nominations, and Sheri has been named the Singing News Favorite Alto eleven times and the Singing News Female Vocalist four times. In 2012, Sheri received Alto of the Year by the National Quartet Convention's first annual awards. Most recently, Jeff & Sheri were awarded the Trio of the Year for the 2021 Singing News Fan Awards. Jeff & Sheri’s wall of awards also include three Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music Association Awards, two International Country Gospel Music Association, nine Voice Awards for Female Artist, five Voice Awards for Song/Single of the Year, two Voice Awards for Christian Country Group, four SGM Fan Fair/USGN awards, seven SGN Scoops Diamond Awards, four Hearts Aflame Awards, and three Cash Box awards. They have also participated in the Gaither Homecoming Video Series since 1993.
