Description

Richard and Jeff of RJ Honey have been in beekeeping almost 20 years. Beekeeping is a fun and challenging hobby. We aim to help it be more fun and less challenging. Classes will be a combination of instruction, discusssion and field work (weather permitting.)

February: Introduction to beekeeping. We'll be discussing what it takes to start beekeeping and be successful.

March: Equipment choices. My hive is dead. What do I do?

April: This is the month of increase. Bees are in build up mode.

May: Swarms. Bees do that sometimes. Weather permitting, hive inspections.

June: Pests. Ants, beetles, critters. Hive inspections.

July: Local queen breeder Bob Anderson will talk to us about the importance of the Queen.

August: Honey harvesting. We'll be having sticky fun.

September: Mites. Do nothing and your bees are in the position to die over winter.

October: Time to button them up for winter.

Topics may be adjusted or changed. Hive inspections are weather dependent.
