Rob Mazurek (b.1965) is a multidisciplinary artist/abstractivist, with a focus on electro-acoustic composition, improvisation, performance, painting, sculpture, video, film, and installation, who spent much of his creative life in Chicago, and then Brazil. He currently lives and works in Marfa, Texas.

Emerging from the musical nexus of the 1990s Chicago scene, he’s written more than 400 compositions and is featured on more than 70 recordings. He has led or co-led many ensembles – including the Exploding Star Orchestra (feat. Bill Dixon, Roscoe Mitchell)  Chicago Underground (Duo, Trio, Quartet & Orchestra), Isotope 217 (alongside members of Tortoise), Pharoah and the Underground (feat. Pharoah Sanders), Alien Flower Sutra (with Emmett Kelly), São Paulo Underground, and a duo with Jeff Parker – each of which possesses its own distinct musical personality.  The list of his collaborators slashes into all corners of international creative music of recent decades: Jim O'Rourke, Stereolab, Hamid Drake, William Parker, Chad Taylor, Gastr Del Sol, Simon Berz, Angelica Sanchez, Tony Malaby, Jeb Bishop, Fred Anderson, Jodie Christian, Nicole Mitchell, and countless others in Europe, Northa & South America and Beyond.

For this one-night-only event in New Orleans, Rob has hand-picked a group including Mikel-Patrick Avery, a percussionist from his formative years in Chicago who now resides in the Crescent City, and two of New Orleans' fixtures who collaborated with Rob in his first visit to New Orleans back in 2008, James Singleton on bass and Dr. Jeff Albert on trombones and electronics. This evening of sound-sculpture will be entirely unique and not to be missed...  please spread the word, and consider purchasing advance tickets to this capacity-capped event.
