Ever wondered how different clay bodies handle? Come experiment with 5 awesome mid-range clays from local favorite Rocky Mountain Clay in this hands-on clay play session at Community Clay!
This open studio-style event is perfect for ceramicists who want to try out clay bodies before committing to a full bag.
HOW IT WORKS:
Reserve a 1-hour time slot on Saturday, June 6. Select either wheel or handbuilding.*
Choose your clays during checkout. Mix and match up to 3 lbs. total.
On the day of the event, meet us at the studio and we’ll guide you to your workspace.
Firing is included! We’ll fire your pieces with glaze of your choice.
Finished pieces will be ready to pickup in about 3 weeks.

AVAILABLE CLAYS:
Speckled Brown Trout
A toasty, medium brown color with varying speckles throughout. Looks lovely both glazed or unglazed. This clay is truly a pleasure to work with in all forms.
Flagstone
RMC's most popular dark mid-fire clay with great results in both thrown functional ware and sculptural pieces. Versatile use with an outstanding medium red-brown color.
Chestnut
Like the name describes, this clay fires a warm, rich, nutty brown color. Excellent handling and firing properties. Suitable for throwing and sculptural ceramic projects and looks beautiful glazed or unglazed.
Quarry
A course, oatmeal colored clay used for handbuilding and sculptural projects. It displays its grog with a beautiful, slight grain variation throughout.
Evergreen Ash
Announcing the launch of Evergreen Ash! This custom mid-fire stoneware is a rich green-tinted take on RMC’s popular Ash clay body. It features a small addition of fine mesh sand for extra strength and structure, ideal for throwing or coiling larger forms while maintaining a smooth, easy-to-work consistency.
