Great music should do three things: connect us to the past, inspire us to envision the future, and root us fully in the present. Roma Ransom does all three.
The duo’s repertoire ranges from old-time traditional ballads such as “Shady Grove” and “St. James Infirmary” to music inspired by European cultures—particularly Romania, the source of their name. Yet Roma Ransom’s sound is distinctly their own. Grace Easley’s sultry, sweet vocals blend with the duo’s expansive instrumental palette to create a style suited to nearly any setting. Both musicians began classical training at an early age, with Grace studying violin and viola and Gordon studying guitar.
Over the past decade, Roma Ransom has toured throughout North America, performing more than 200 shows a year. They have appeared at festivals alongside headliners including Larry & His Flask and Leftover Salmon. Their music has also been featured in films and commercials for Patagonia, Bud Light, Vice, Xtratuf, And She’s Dope Too, Huckberry, and Yeti, as well as in projects by independent filmmakers.
