Overdue for a little you time?
Picture this: 150+ badass women. All ages, all backgrounds, and all skill levels. Group rides. Skills + bike maintenance clinics. Nature hikes. Yoga. Shopping. Camping. Bonfires.
You in?
If a little (or a lot of) mountain biking, skill-building, and being in community with other adventurous women in a safe, confidence-building environment sounds like exactly what you need this summer, then you’re going to want to join us for year 4 of the…
happening in scenic Bemus Point, New York, from July 21st - 23rd, 2023
all ages (16+) and skill levels welcome
|
|
Note: Rooted has sold out in the past, and we don’t expect this year to be any different! We want to see you at the festival this July, so be sure to secure those tickets ASAP.

→ This event is for women only
While we do have supportive men helping us run booths and some clinics, they will leave the festival grounds after they are done working. Non-binary folks who are comfortable in a woman and femme-centered setting are welcome and encouraged to join us at Rooted. (Also, in case it needs to be said: trans women are women.)
→ Ages 16 and up are welcome
Festival attendees ages 16 and 17 must also have a guardian in attendance with a weekend pass. We love riders of all ages, and you can plan to meet women ranging from 16 to 65+ at Rooted!
→ Skills clinic tickets will open up at a later date
A separate email will be sent out to all weekend pass holders some time in June! Stay tuned for that and for a more comprehensive festival schedule.
→ Your weekend pass includes free parking and camping
You are invited to come set up camp as early as noon on Thursday, July 21st where you can then join us for the Loud Performance shop ride at 6:00 PM. This ride is not an official Rooted event and will have men, women, and children of all skill levels present. It's a fantastic opportunity to explore the trails with local riders leading the way.
→ Camping is primitive
(In case you’re new to that outdoor life, welcome! Primitive camping just means there are no electric or water hookups. We encourage you to bring jugs of water and battery or solar powered lights.) You’ll mostly be set up in an open field with limited spaces available along a tree line. It gets really sunny and can get pretty hot during the day! The average daily temperature is 78 with 62 degrees for the overnight average. There’s plenty of room to bring extra easy-up tents for your camping space.
RVs, car or van camping, and travel trailers are all welcome at Camp Rooted. Camping may be primitive, but the festival bathrooms are deluxe and will be available all weekend.
We ask that you tear down camp any time on Sunday the 23rd.
A note about valuables: The festival grounds are a very safe place, but we recommend leaving valuables at home or locked up, as we are not responsible for lost or stolen goods.
→ Food and Beverage
There will be some food and beverage vendors, but you are also welcome to bring your own to the event. Happy hour beer and wine will be provided at no cost to you by the generous support of Mazza Winery on Friday and Saturday evenings.
→ Bike Rentals
If you’d like to rent a bike, we recommend contacting your local bike shop or Loud Performance (716-386-1171) ASAP to secure a bike. Please be aware that rentals are limited and book up FAST! If you strike out with these options, send an email to hello@rootedmtbfest.com or post in the private Rooted Facebook Group and we will see if we can source a bike for you to rent.
→ Please leave pets, children and male partners, and friends at home.
You are going to be having too much fun to give them the attention they need. Enjoy this “you time” with the girls to the fullest! Note: there are shop dogs, but they are super friendly and tend to stay near the bike shop!
→ What’s the refund policy?
You must purchase a weekend pass in order to attend any of the free or additional cost events at Rooted. There are no refunds allowed but you may transfer your ticket to another participant.
If you need to transfer your ticket, please email us at hello@rootedmtbfest.com and we can offer your ticket to our waitlist if you need help selling it. This does not guarantee a transfer refund for you. If we are unable to sell it, you will not get a refund. Transfers must be completed before July 13th, and we will need to know the new ticket holder’s name and details by that time.
This is a rain or shine event. We are able to pivot a bit to still have a great event even if it happens to rain.
→ What if Rooted sells out?
We will use a waitlist after tickets sell out.

Once upon a time (ok, 2020) Heather Kinal was craving a place to learn new skills and ride her mountain bike alongside other women. The only problem? Nothing like this existed within a ten-hour drive (or more!?) of her home in western New York.
So she decided to create Rooted: an all-level women’s mountain bike festival built around skills, confidence, community, and nature.
Now, four years later, Rooted has become an event that women travel hours to participate in – including from 15 different states and Canada.
We welcome a femme-driven community striving to destigmatize mountain bike culture and empower anyone who identifies as a woman, non-binary, trans, or femme of all body types and abilities.
Our values:
----- ↓ -----
It’s all waiting for you at Rooted:
A safe, welcoming, empowering community for anyone – of any body type or ability – who identifies as a woman, non-binary, trans, or femme.
The opportunity to level up your skills, education, and confidence – including group rides, maintenance clinics, and more.
And last but not least: the time and space to escape the daily grind and get back in touch with yourself – think solo time, nature hikes, yoga, shopping, camping, and kicking back next to a nightly bonfire (marshmallows included).
We can’t wait to see you there!
