Class description:   Explore seven different rosemaling styles and their unique characteristics in this rosemaling class taught by Kirstin Lewis. Classes will cover rosemaling techniques and painting different styles on wooden coasters and a wooden coaster holder that you will obtain through wood sources. The following weeks will include the following styles: Telemark, Gudbrandsdal, Vest Agder, Hallingdal, Setesdal, Valdres, and Os.

 

 The class spread out over seven days. Each day will focus on a different style.

  • Monday July 10, 2023, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Central 
  • Tuesday July 11, 2023, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Central 
  • Wednesday July 12, 2023, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Central 
  • Monday July 17, 2023, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Central 
  • Tuesday July 18, 2023, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Central 
  • Wednesday July 19, 2023, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Central this class is open studio time for you to paint and ask questions.

 

Style: Telemark, Gudbrandsdal, Vest Agder, Hallingdal, Setesdal, Valdres, and Os

 

Class level:  Intermediate

 

Medium being used :  Oils

Other mediums allowed: Acrylics welcome

 

Surface: Wood, 4" rounds and 5x2.5 box available from amazon or from Hobby Lobby or 4” ornament.  You can use a surface of your own choice and adjust the pattern.  Instructor can answer questions about adapting design to a different surface.

Designs for this class will be sent via email in a PDF format so you can print them and transfer onto your project.

Instructor biography:  I have been Rosemaling since 2015 and started teaching rosemaling in person after the covid restrictions were lifted in my area. I have enjoyed learning many different styles of rosemaling from Louise Bath, a local teacher. I have also had three opportunities to take classes at Vesterheim.

 

Location:  This is an online class hosted on Zoom.  All technical requirements needed to join the class are the responsibility of the student. RCC virtual classes will not be recorded. All classes are listed in the Central time zone.

Rosemaling Coast to Coast, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organized to celebrate the art of Norwegian rosemaling through a national organization that supports and enriches the artistic activities of the individual. Members study, paint, teach, and promote the love of rosemaling. The skillset is broad, from beginners to highly-skilled, award-winning artists.
