Asheville Museum of History (AMoH) - AFTER HOURS Summer Concert Series

 

Join us at the Asheville Museum of History (AMoH) for our AFTER HOURS Summer Concert Series. Happening EVERY 3rd Tuesday of the Summer Months (June - August) from 6 PM - 8 PM (doors open at 5:30 PM) at the historic Smith-McDowell House, home to the Asheville Museum of History (AMoH).

 

Each concert will showcase the talents of local artists who reflect traditional and contemporary folk, bluegrass, and Appalachian mountain music. For our June 17th AFTER HOURS concert, we are delighted to have Rudy's Bluegrass Revue! Performances will take place on the front porch of Smith-McDowell House, allowing friends and families to gather and enjoy the music from the front lawn.  

 

Please pre-order a curated picnic from Finch Grocery to enjoy on the lawn -- options below. On the night of the show, wine and beer will be available for sale as well as non-alcoholic beverages.

2 garden salads with peppers, cucumbers, feta, carrots, pepperoni, tomatoes, house-made pickled onions, and house-made white balsamic vinaigrette

2 portions of house-made chicken salad

Your picnic basket purchase will support the Asheville Museum of History and Finch Grocery as they work to rebuild their location in Biltmore Village.

 

Nonetheless, while we will sell beverages during the show, please feel free to bring your own food and picnic-style dinner. Also, we will only be able to provide a few chairs, so please bring your own lawn chairs and blankets to ensure you have comfortable seating.  

 

Aside from live music, AFTERS HOURS will have games and activities for the entire family. Included with your ticket cost is admission to the museum. Folks will be able to enjoy the museum as they would during normal operating hours.

 

About Rudy's Bluegrass Revue

 

Rudy's Bluegrass Revue delivers dynamic Bluegrass, Americana, and roots music with a contemporary flair, steeped in tradition while balancing a cutting-edge sound. 

 

Rudy Cortese is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and entertainer, on the 5-string banjo, mandolin, guitar, and fiddle. Rudy is a multi-award winning banjo player. His music includes original compositions as well as covers in the genres of bluegrass, rhythm & roots, Americana/country, classical, and world music. Rudy approaches his songwriting, vocals and instrumentation with urgency and authenticity. Each performance is unique, fun, and full of surprises. 

 

Elizabeth Kronlage, on harmony vocals, tenor guitar, and cello. Elizabeth and Rudy were the specialty duet vocal champions, at the Wickenburg, AZ Bluegrass Festival in 2019. Elizabeth's harmony and lead vocals give an authentic mountain-bluegrass sound. 

 

Chris Carter holds down the rhythm on upright bass. A Madison County native, he has been in the musical scene his whole life. He is pictured here, outstanding in his field.

$15 General Admission / $10 for Asheville Museum of History (AMoH) members / FREE for ages 16 & Under.
