Ryan Byrne is a seasoned professional musician who has performed as both a sideman and frontman with various musical artists and groups for 30+ years. As a Nashville-based touring musician for 16 years, Ryan spent a decade as the bassist for Nashville recording artist / singer-songwriter Stephen Cochran, with whom he shared the bill and various festival stages with a Who’s Who of country and southern rock artists, including Taylor Swift, Big & Rich, Luke Bryan, Toby Keith, Charlie Daniels, .38 Special, Trisha Yearwood, Lee Brice, Zac Brown Band, Steve Miller Band, Marshall Tucker Band, The Gin Blossoms, Kevin Costner & Modern West, and many, many more. He has performed at some of the most renowned venues in the USA, such as a televised appearance at Times Square on New Year’s Eve, the Warner Theater in Washington DC, Hart Plaza in Detroit MI, the Memphis Cook Convention Center (now the Renasant Convention Center) in Memphis TN, multiple iconic stages in Nashville TN such as the Bridgestone Arena, Ryman Auditorium, Wildhorse Saloon, Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, and various clubs, honky-tonks, and fairs from Maine to California. Ryan was also fortunate enough to take part in a 17-day Armed Forces Entertainment tour of the Middle East where he performed for U.S. and Coalition Forces at military bases in Bahrain and Kuwait to military camps in the desert a mere 18 miles from the Iraq border. Ryan appeared in multiple music videos with Stephen Cochran, one of which was in regular rotation on GAC (Great American Country).
Teaching is a huge part of his life, too. Ryan studied at Berklee, earned his Music Education degree from Plymouth State, and has spent over 15 years teaching music. Today, he offers private, 1-on-1 online bass and music lessons to students across the country through the Knoxville Academy Of Music.
On the business side, he runs 251 Group, where he helps musicians and teachers build their online presence, and he serves as a partner in his family’s auto center in Gorham.
