Description
Born in Tokyo in 1975, Sadakatsu Tsuchida is a distinguished pianist who completed the Soloist Diploma Course at Toho Gakuen School of Music before furthering his studies in Russia. He is a graduate of the prestigious Moscow Conservatory, where he completed his graduate studies and trained under renowned instructors such as V. Merzhanov. Tsuchida’s international reputation was solidified in 2002 when he won First Prize at the 3rd International Rachmaninoff Piano Competition. His cultural contributions have been formally recognized with certificates of appreciation from the Mayor of Perm, Russia, and Leonid Kuchma, the second President of Ukraine.
As a performer, Tsuchida has appeared at Japan’s premier venues, including Tokyo Bunka Kaikan and Tokyo Opera City, while touring extensively across Russia, Ukraine, Croatia, Thailand, and South Korea. He has collaborated with esteemed conductors such as V. Fedoseyev and Kim Hong-jae, bringing a rich repertoire to global audiences. His discography features the 2-CD set Rachmaninoff: 24 Preludes and the album Overcoming: Piano Masterpieces. Beyond performance, he is an accomplished author who published Play Rachmaninoff (released in both Japan and Moscow) and the 2023 research volume Issō. Tsuchida currently serves as a professor at Shōkei Gakuin University and a lecturer at Miyagi Gakuin Women's University.
