San Miguel PEN presents...Sandra Cisneros & Judyth Hill

No Fan of Book Bans: ¿Por que fue mi libro prohibido?

Across the US and the globe, books are being banned at a rate never before seen in our lifetimes. In the last five years, PEN America records almost 23 thousand cases of book bans across 45 US states—almost four thousand individual book titles in the last school year alone. “Never before,” writes PEN, have “so many stories been stolen from so many children.”  Come hear Sandra Cisneros, author of the widely banned The House on Mango Street; and Judyth Hill, poet and PEN International Women Writers Committee Chair, discuss what it’s like to have your book banned and what book banning means for writers, children and other readers, the US and the world.

About the Venue

San Miguel PEN Presents Winter Series will take place at JC3, Jewish Cultural & Community Center, located in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato—the perfect place for conversations of such profound importance.
