She soon opened El Buen Café, a popular downtown restaurant and bakery, where she spent hours listening to customers and neighbors tell their stories. Eventually, these memories became part of her book “Voices of San Miguel: An Oral History.” Kris has written three bilingual cookbooks and is currently working on a memoir. She owns and operates La Cocina Cooking School and Delicious Expeditions, a culinary tour company that delves into culture, history, and amazing food, as well as Eat-Write-Travel, a destination writing retreat company.
