San Miguel PEN presents... Raymond Bechard
Ending Our Culture's Addiction to Conflict
Join us as Raymond Bechard explores meaningful and possible solutions to our “Culture of Conflict,” a chaotic, global mindset that prevents us from coming together and solving overwhelming challenges. As he explains, "This culture is driven by an 'Adversarial Industrial Complex,' where a profitable, even addictive, economy results from the ratings, votes, and 'likes' grows from our ever increasing conflicts. Ultimately, we have a choice: give into the fear and malevolence thrust upon us or devote ourselves to compassion and empathy." This is a talk about a viable alternative to the end of the world—a talk we MUST hear!
About the Venue
San Miguel PEN Presents Winter Series will all take place at Casa de La Cultura, located in the heart of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato. This location provides the perfect backdrop for conversations of such profound importance.
About the Speaker
Raymond Bechard is a renowned Author, Producer, Human Rights Advocate, and outspoken provocateur. For over 25 years, he has worked to bring justice, cooperation, and equality to people across the globe, advising organizations on how best to bring hope and encouragement to those who need it most. Bechard has written multiple pieces of successful legislation on human trafficking, forced Facebook to enact stronger child-safety measures and remove thousands of illicit pages of content from their website— he successfully makes people in power uncomfortable whenever he focuses his writing and speaking on them! Among his many publications is the recently published book The Berlin Turnpike: A True Story of Human Trafficking in America, an examination of commercial sexual exploitation within American communities. Raymond will invite us to join him on his current project: Taking on X (formerly Twitter) —currently the world's main portal for human trafficking, exploitation, violence against women and children, and every other human rights violation
