Description

As back-to-school season settles in, the John Brown House Museum, a museum of the Rhode Island Historical Society, will host a special Saturdays in the 1700s Colonial Classroom event on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 10am-1pm. Living historian Ryan Daniels will portray an 18th-century schoolmaster and discuss what a typical school day for children in 18th-century New England was like. Using a combination of historic reproductions alongside historical games, young visitors can see and experience what life at school might have been like at the time of the American Revolution.

This experience is free for members and $10 for non-members. Admission to the John Brown House Museum is included in the ticket cost.
