SCSO Returns for Open Rehearsal for Dvorak's Sunny Bohemia
Immerse yourself in an unforgettable evening of Bohemian beauty, storytelling, and orchestral color as your Space Coast Symphony Orchestra opens the doors to a rare, behind-the-scenes rehearsal experience on April 24th from 7:00–10:00pm.
Designed for the musically curious, this special Open Rehearsal offers a fascinating glimpse into how a symphonic performance is shaped long before the concert begins.
At the heart of the program is Antonín Dvořák’s beloved Cello Concerto, one of the most revered works in the repertoire, performed by acclaimed guest artist David Calhoun. Exhilarating and deeply intimate, the concerto reveals some of Dvořák’s most soulful and expressive music.
Also featured is Dvořák’s radiant Symphony No. 8, a life-affirming work filled with folk-inspired melodies and the warmth of his Bohemian roots, alongside the Southeastern U.S. Premiere of Nimue and Her Fairies by guest composer Daniel Perttu—an enchanting tone poem inspired by Arthurian legend.
Open Rehearsals offer a rare chance to witness the artistry, collaboration, and discovery that bring this music to life—an intimate and surprisingly fun experience that deepens appreciation for everything that follows on the concert stage.
