Self-defense for families

Description

Peace Force is an organization dedicated to equipping and training community members with the tools to be aware of one's surroundings and respond to threats that arise.  As a therapist who has worked over a decade helping people of all ages recover and heal from trauma, I also want to be a part of the prevention. We are taught about some forms of body safety like seat belts and bike helmets.  We train for fire drills, in-school shootings, and tornado preparedness. However, we are not taught or prepared for how to respond if we or our children experience personal danger. While we can't control our survival responses (fight, flight, freeze, fawn, collapse), being aware of our environment, increasing our skills, building confidence and practicing our responses shapes how we respond if we are faced with the unthinkable. This workshop offers families the opportunity to address difficult realities with education and real action together.  Kids will learn how to 1) avoid bad situations 2) be confident in your verbal and non-verbal communication 3) set verbal boundaries 4) how to handle bullies, escape an attack and a kidnapping scenario. Caregiver will learn basic verbal and physical techniques to stop an attacker and get your family to safety. 

Cost for the caregiver and minor: $65. Minors must be 9 -17 years of age. Caregiver must be accompanied by a caregiver. 
Please bring: Water bottle, comfy clothes, sneakers, and a readiness to learn and practice hands on techniques.
Limited to 25 pairs total!
