Join the Cape Fear Bonsai Society for a special workshop with Jim Doyle of Nature’s Way Nursery focusing on the elegant and expressive literati bonsai style.
Literati bonsai emphasize movement, simplicity, and artistic balance. In this hands-on session, participants will work directly with Jim to design and style a literati composition while learning the principles behind this distinctive form.
The Cape Fear Bonsai Society will provide Juniperus procumbens material that has been grown upright for several years, along with wire for styling. This material has been selected specifically for literati design so participants can focus on composition and technique.
Workshop participation is limited to 8 trees to allow individual instruction and discussion.
Participants will leave with a styled tree and a deeper understanding of literati design principles.
Workshop participants are also encouraged to attend the full-day bonsai demonstration with Jim Doyle on Sunday, September 27.
The Cape Fear Bonsai Society, established in 2001, is a group that meets monthly to study and practice the art of Bonsai.
The club has an active program of training through workshops, guest speakers, and a sharing of Bonsai expertise. Membership is open to both the novice and the more experienced practitioner of Bonsai.
