This month, we will discuss Salt Sweat & Steam by Brigid Washington
About the Book
Salt, Sweat & Steam: The Fiery Education of an Accidental Chef by Brigid Washington is a captivating memoir that takes readers behind the scenes of one of America's most prestigious culinary schools. Blending humor, honesty, and mouthwatering storytelling, Washington chronicles her journey from Trinidad to the rigorous halls of the Culinary Institute of America, where she navigates grueling classes, unpaid internships, demanding chefs, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. Along the way, she grapples with identity, belonging, and the realities of the professional food world, all while discovering that the flavors of home are just as important as mastering classical technique. Equal parts coming-of-age story and culinary adventure, Salt, Sweat & Steam offers an inspiring and unfiltered look at what it truly takes to earn the title of chef.
