Description

What's happening in your nervous system when you're anxious, avoidant or triggered? The science of our nervous system is universal. This workshop aims to give practical information so you can understand your nervous system and how to regulate and/or coregulate with a partner (in various situations) in order to reclaim your calm.

Presented by Carolanne Marcantonio:

I am an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist (CST). I earned my Master's degree in Clinical Social Work from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College in Manhattan, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I am trained in Attachment Focused EMDR through the Parnell Institute and offer AF-EMDR to clients struggling with trauma and PTSD.  I am the co-creator, clinical director, and senior sex therapist at Wise Therapy. We are a collaborative group of sex therapists in NYC working together to provide services for the community. As a sex therapist, I see couples, individuals, and polycules. Using evidence-based modalities, I have provided services to clients from every socio-economic background, poly folks, and people involved in D/s, M/s, and kink/BDSM relationships. I have worked for more than 15 years as a sexual health educator and provided individual counseling on sexual health issues to clients at The LGBT Community Center in Manhattan.

My time at The Center also included creating and teaching a workshop titled “Sex and Intimacy after Cancer” for the Lesbian Cancer Initiative. Prior to working in a private practice, I co-facilitated support groups within the LGBTQ community, such as Commit to Quit, a smoking cessation group, and Positive Care, a support group for gay, bi and trans men newly diagnosed with HIV. I worked at Babeland, a sex-positive, education-based, unionized sex toy shop, for six years. I have created workshops and led classes on sexual health and clinical work at numerous colleges and agencies, including Cornell University, SUNY Downstate Medical College, Hofstra University, NYU, the Job Path’s Sexual Health Conference hosted at The New York Times Building, Columbia University, and Callen-Lorde’s Sexual Health Conference.

Growing up in the subculture of punk, I learned at a young age the importance of honoring your sexual being in order to embrace our full body and mind health. I believe strongly in feminism, sexual empowerment, sex positivity (the idea that any and all consensual/age-appropriate sexual acts are healthy and positive), LGBTQIA2+ equality, and understanding the systemic impact racism, classism, patriarchy, homophobia, and sexism have on individuals and their environment.

Earth and Salt

Earth and Salt is the modern adult store, committed to your pleasure, your way. Our approach to pleasure is holistic and inclusive, as we know that pleasure is possible for everyone, but it looks different from person to person. We also believe that creating a daily connection to physical pleasure, sensuality, and sex is a transformative process, individually and collectively.

We sell a curated array of body-safe products that enable our customers to center themselves in their bodies, access their pleasure, and confirm sex and desire as parts of a healthy lifestyle.

As part of our commitment to pleasure for all, Earth and Salt is also committed to social justice as an intrinsic part of our mission. As such we de-gender the sex toy store model, affirm individuals in their identities through our product and class offerings, and support businesses and sex educators from marginalized groups.

Our vendor roster is always 50% or more businesses owned by individuals from marginalized groups. We also donate a percent of sales every month to the BIPOC Urban Farm and Wholeness Center in Winooski, VT.
