Knoxville Shakespeare and Mabry-Hazen House present Shakespeare On The Hill: Much Ado About Nothing

The Tennessee Stage Company opens its 34th season with Shakespeare On The Hill. At 7:30 pm on Thursday, May 9 - Saturday, May 11, 2023, 7:30 pm on Thursday, May 16 - Saturday, May 19, 2023, and a 2:00 pm Matinee on Sunday, May 12 & Sunday, May 19, 2023, the company will present the Bard’s much beloved play, "Much Ado About Nothing" in collaboration with Mabry-Hazen House.

The play will take place on the grounds of the historic house museum. Evelyn Hazen, the last of the Mabry-Hazen family to live in the house, was very fond of Shakespeare’s works and the house museum preserves many of her books, papers, and writings about the Bard.

Attendees are urged to bring lawn chairs, picnic blankets, and other ways to enjoy this open-air show. Refreshments and light concessions will be available for purchase.

Playing for six evening performances and two Sunday matinees:

  • Thursday, May 9: 7:30pm - 9:30pm
  • Friday, May 10: 7:30pm - 9:30pm
  • Saturday, May 11: 7:30pm - 9:30pm
  • Sunday, May 12: 2:00pm - 4:00pm
  • Thursday, May 16: 7:30pm - 9:30pm
  • Friday, May 17: 7:30pm - 9:30pm
  • Saturday, May 18: 7:30pm - 9:30pm
  • Sunday, May 19: 2:00pm - 4:00pm

Doors open thirty minutes before the show, with the show beginning promptly at 7:30.

In cases of rain, tickets will be honored at later performances.

Individual Tickets: $15.00

Group Rate of 4 Tickets: $50.00

Neighborhood Resident Ticket: $10 with proof of 37915 or 37916 zip code, to be purchased at the Mabry-Hazen House Office or at the door of the event.

All Children Under 6 Are Free

The Mabry-Hazen House Museum, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is located atop Mabry's Hill in Knoxville, Tennessee. Built in 1858, three generations of the same family resided in the Italianate-style home overlooking downtown Knoxville, the Tennessee River, and Great Smoky Mountains.
