Description

Amelia Island is famous for the wealth of fossil treasure including 2 - 23-million-year-old shark teeth, rare and elusive fossilized scallop shells, and bones from megafauna like mammoths and giant sloths.  Artifacts from the Island’s long history as a fort and commerce hub can also found, and the Island has even given up gold doubloons from a 1715 shipwreck!   In addition to these ancient treasures, Amelia Island beaches are known for their natural beauty and are full of modern riches in the form of seashells, wildlife and obscure objects.

Dr. Foss, a trained naturalist with over a decade of experience, will lead you on a journey to discover Amelia Island fossils which include shark teeth, fossilized pecten shells, and many other treasures. This in-person event is perfect for fossil enthusiasts of all ages. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to learn about Fernandina Beach fossils and how to successfully hunt for them.
