Description

Groups of 6 - 18 people may reserve sit-on-top kayaks in advanced for the Slow Flow rental (normally walk-up only). This reservation includes basic kayak instruction with the option to add an on-water guide who will provide information about the area's history, natural habitat and more.

This beautiful 1.75 mile stretch of the South Fork of the Catawba River allows guests to gently paddle for 60-90 minutes on slow flowing water from the historic Town of McAdenville to Cramerton.  This kayaking experience is great for first time paddlers or families with young children. Children must be 8 years of age for single kayaks, 4 years of age to ride along in a tandem with an adult.

After a brief safety talk and introduction to the area, you’ll enjoy floating or paddling at your own pace down the river to the take out in Cramerton next to Goat Island Park. There will be a Catawba Riverkeeper staff member to help you get out of your boat. We'll shuttle you back to the McAdenville launch.  You are welcome to enjoy the local restaurants and shops in McAdenville or make a 5-minute dive to Cramerton to explore the park and this quaint town.

The rental fee includes guaranteed quantity of kayaks, paddles, and PFDs (Personal Floatation Device), basic kayak and safety instruction, and shuttle back your launch point in McAdenville. Guests should dress comfortably in clothes that can get wet. Shoes with a heel strap are encouraged.
