So You Want to Try Stand-Up?

This is a beginner-friendly comedy workshop designed to help you get to your first tight five—and, more importantly, give you the tools and confidence to keep going.

Whether you’ve never touched a mic, tried one open mic and hated it, or wrote a few jokes but didn’t know how to move forward, this workshop will give you structure, clarity, and momentum.

This class is open to all beginners, no prior comedy experience required.

What You’ll Learn

In this session, you’ll learn how to:

  • Handle stage fright and manage nerves
  • Write your first stand-up set
  • Find your comedic voice and build a writing habit
  • Navigate early-stage comedy spaces and build community
  • Take practical next steps after your first class

What You’ll Leave With

  • Class notes and writing prompts
  • A recommended reading list
  • Clear next steps—whether that’s your first open mic or booking a show

Our goal: that you’ll still be doing comedy a year from now.

Who This Workshop Is For

  • Total beginners
  • People curious about stand-up but intimidated by open mics
  • Writers, performers, or creatives looking to try comedy
