Description

Have you ever wondered how to make soap from scratch? Well, now is your chance to learn about cold-pressed soap! This 90-minute class will start with a demonstration of making a soap base using various oils and goat milk, as well as discussing the challenges and safety precautions required when using sodium hydroxide for saponification. The soap base will then be divvied up and students will be able to color and scent their batch to make their very own personalized bars of soap. You will be sent home with three bars of your very own as well as instructions on how to cure it. Cold processed soap requires three to four weeks to cure, so please be sure you have a place with good airflow for it to rest for that time before using. This class does involve the use of sodium hydroxide which is highly caustic and easily burns skin, so right now this class is for ages 16+ only.

Pre-registration is required online and is available til the day before class.  We cannot accommodate same day requests or walk-ins for this class at this time.

Due to the nature of the chemicals and space required, this class is limited to four participants.

Craftopia is an arts and craft studio dedicated to expanding access to arts and crafts in our community regardless of age, experience or financial abilities.

We realize that there is truly a lack of opportunities to explore different art and craft styles - especially for adults - in our area. We hope to create a safe space where the community can come together to explore different forms and mediums and connect with other creatives.

We look forward to providing our community with group classes, individual/private lessons, art and craft parties, and a fun co-working space in our new location. This location also allows us to have a retail shop to showcase local artist's creations for sale.
