Description

Uncommon Ground Bi-Annual Open Mic Tournament is finally back! We are committed to supporting up-and-coming local independent artists. Our Open Mic nights are known to be some of the best in Chicago and the longest running open mic in the city!

IMPORTANT: 
**This is a FREE seated, dinner show. We will try our best to seat parties together, however you may be seated at a table with other guests.
**Open Mic Competition is open to the viewing public, but YOU MUST BE INVITED IN ORDER TO PERFORM!

Seating: 5:15pm / Show: 6:00pm / All Ages

**The top 5 performers on May 22nd will advance to the Open Mic Finals on Sunday, May 29th! The top 5 performers from the 1st night of semi-finals will also be performing on May 29th. 10 total performers will compete in the finals where the top 3 winners will be selected!

** Competing artists get 5 minutes of stage time (or one full song) per act.

** Uncommon Ground will have a panel of 3-5 judges each night who collectively decide which artists advance in the competition. Winners are chosen based upon the following categories: Performance, Songwriting, Musicianship, Crowd Reaction & Participation, Other. COME OUT, SUPPORT AND MAKE NOISE FOR YOUR FAVORITE ACT!

Final Competition: Sunday, May 29th

THE GOAL FROM THE VERY BEGINNING, WAS TO BE GROUND ZERO FOR EMERGING LOCAL & NATIONAL TOURING ARTISTS EACH NIGHT. OWNER MICHAEL CAMERON BOOKED ALL OF THE ENTERTAINMENT FROM 1991 UNTIL 2007 & STILL OVERSEES THE MUSIC PROGRAM WITH OUR PART TIME MUSIC DIRECTOR, MARIA SCHROEDER. 

WE HOST ONE OF THE BEST OPEN MICS IN THE COUNTRY EVERY SUNDAY, WHICH IS SPONSORED BY SHURE & GREENSTAR ORGANIC BREWERY. MANY OF OUR TALENTED NIGHTLY PERFORMERS HAVE GONE ON TO CRITICAL ACCLAIM. WITH UNCOMMON GROUND'S INTERNATIONAL REPUTATION, YOU NEVER KNOW WHO YOU MIGHT CATCH IN OUR INTIMATE ACOUSTIC LISTENING ROOMS.
