Whether you're journaling lyrics, humming melodies, or dreaming of performing your own songs, this workshop is for you. Join three of Charlotte's renowned singer-songwriters - Von Hunter, Shana Blake, & Doak Turner - for a creative afternoon that blends heart, craft, and soul.
You’ll learn how songs are built from the ground up - lyrics, structure, melody, and meaning - while getting personal insight into each artist’s songwriting process. Then, with guidance and encouragement, you’ll create something of your own.
Shana’s playful, real, and soulful approach + Von’s rich storytelling style create a workshop that’s both empowering and expressive. Whether you’re shy or seasoned, you’ll leave with a new song and new confidence.

Do I need music experience to attend?
Nope! This workshop is for everyone - from total beginners to connoisseurs.
Do I need to read music?
Nope! We'll introduce basic concepts in a clear and creative way that anyone can follow.
What do I need to bring?
If you have your own instrument, laptop, or gear, please to bring it! If not, just bring yourself! We'll have equipment and materials there & we’ll focus more on ideas and creativity than performance.
Do I need to play an instrument?
Nope! You can write lyrics, sing, or collaborate with others in the room who do play.
Can I come if I’ve never written a song?
Absolutely. This is a beginner-friendly space with no pressure, just creativity and support.
Can I perform the song I write?
Yes! If you’d like, you’ll have the chance to share your work in the showcase following the workshop.
