Description
The Parlor Room School Of Music Presents:
Songwriting Workshop w/ Abbie Gardner
at The Parlor Room
Saturday, February 10th
4:30pm-6pm
Workshop Price: $30 GA / $25 MEMBERS
Max Capacity: 20 students
Minimum: 5 students
Open to all levels, just come to this workshop ready to write! Bring paper, something to write with and an instrument if you play one (you can also write with your voice). We’ll do some fun exercises designed to draw out your stories and musical ideas. Then we’ll experiment with ways to use those ideas in a song. You’ll leave with loads of ideas, if not a first draft of a song, and a solid foundation for generating future ideas! I’ve taught this class over a dozen times and I’m always inspired and amazed by what people come up with in just over an hour!
Best known as a founding member of Americana harmony trio Red Molly, Abbie Gardner is a joyful dobro player and singer/songwriter with an infectious smile. She’s won the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and American Songwriter Magazine’s Grand Prize. She’s written songs with Chris Stapleton, Ellis Paul, Will Kimbrough and Mark Erelli. But what really thrills her is fanning the flames of her songwriting and dobro students. Whether at a music camp like New England Songwriters Retreat or with her month-long online songwriting classes, Abbie gets really excited to fan the flames of other people’s creativity.
WFUV’s John Platt raves, “she’s not only a first-rate Dobro player, but a songwriter to be reckoned with."
