2 Day Pop-Up Skate Culture Workshop Weekend

TICKETS

  • All sales are final. This event is non-refundable.
  • Each attendee must agree to a waiver to purchase a ticket.
  • All tickets must be purchased through SimpleTix site.

Location

Lloyd Center Mall, Portland Oregon. You will find us in the common area on the first floor in the West End of the mall.

Saturday

  • $25 11:45am-12:35pm Kids and Adults Learn to Skate Level 1 Beginner 

Skills Taught:

  1. How to Fall
  2. How to not fall
  3. Lemons
  4. Forward and Backward Plow stops
  5. Bubbles
  6. Forward Stride
  7. Backward Stride
  • $25 12:45-1:35pm Intro to Ballroom Beg/Int

Skills Taught:

  1. Base 8 count
  2. U Formation
  3. Working with a partner (Partner not required; we will pair you up)
  4. Leading and following
  5. Easy, guiding your partner to spins and catching them back into position.
  • $40 2:00-5pm Headline ATL Style All Levels

Skills Taught:

  1. AJAX
  2. ATL Stepping
  3. ATL Rydin'

After Class, join us at Oaks Park Roller Rink to put into practice what you learned! SoulFit Class at 6pm. Family Open Skate Session 7pm - 10:30pm. 

**Skate Culture Workshop tickets do not include Oaks Park Roller Rink tickets**

Sunday

  • $40 2:00-5pm Headline ATL Style All Levels

  3. ATL Rydin'

Day 2 Headline ATL Style Workshop will recap day 1 skills and build off of them.

HEALTH & SAFETY

  • This is an indoor event with slippery Large Tile flooring. Outdoor or hybrid wheels are highly recommended. Chickpea will be riding on 93a wheels at the event. Please bring a couple of wheel options to test out before the start of your workshop.
  • We will follow all state and local Covid-19 guidelines in place at the time of the event. Face masks are strongly encouraged. Join us in keeping this event safe & fun for all. 
  • PLEASE do not come to the event if you are feeling sick (fever, chills, shortness of breath, etc.) or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID.
  • By participating in the event, you assume all risks and will not hold Skate With Chickpea LLC, Skate Oregon School LLC, or its facilitators, vendors, and sponsors liable for any injuries orillnesses obtained during or after the event.

EXPECTATIONS

  • This is a family-friendly celebration. We expect everyone present at the event to be met with respect. We have zero tolerance for bigotry, racist remarks, and reckless behavior including but not limited to fighting, inappropriate touch, etc. Anyone found engaging in such behavior will be escorted off the premises.
  • If you see something, please say something. Bring it to the attention of the hosts or Skate Oregon School team of Instructors.
  • By purchasing tickets to our event, you acknowledge that there might be photographers and videographers and that these photos and videos could be used for promotional purposes for future events, Skate With Chickpea LLC, and/or Skate Oregon School LLC..

Skate With Chickpea

Chickpea started roller skating in May 2020 to cope with the challenges of the pandemic. She is a SkateIA,  RollRight, SafeSport certified instructor. She offers beginner, intermediate, and advanced group roller skate classes throughout the Portland Metro area; roller dance, footwork essentials, hills and hazards, and Roll Right learn-to-skate classes. Chickpea’s goals are to share the joy of skating, educate on the urban culture of skating, build the skater and instructor community, and to make skating accessible for all.
