Description

Join Catawba Riverkeeper for a guided kayak eco-tour exploring the beautiful South Fork River in Cramerton, North Carolina. This relaxed, out-and-back paddle begins at Confluence, our headquarters, where the community, conservation, and the river itself all come together.

The South Fork River is the largest tributary in the Catawba-Wateree River Basin and has played a defining role in the region’s ecology, industry, and communities. As we paddle on the river, Catawba Riverkeeper staff will share stories about the river’s history, from its early textile mill era to the ongoing work to protect and restore it today.

Along the way, participants will learn how riverkeepers investigate pollution, track down sources of contamination, and advocate for clean water across the basin. We’ll also highlight restoration projects that are helping improve water quality, restore habitat, and reconnect people with this important river.

Whether you’re new to kayaking or a seasoned paddler, this tour offers a unique opportunity to experience the South Fork River from the water while gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges and progress shaping the watershed.

Come paddle, learn, and connect with the river.

There will be a Catawba Riverkeeper Paddling Club Interest Meeting held at Confluence following this eco-tour. Be sure to stick around if you would like to learn more about participating in our new Paddling Club! The meeting will begin at 5:00 pm.
