Join us for the fifth session of our Spring Project Series! Whether you're interested in following the build progress of our 12' rowing skiff, learning some new techniques, or are seriously contemplating building your own boat for a blissful summer on the lake... this series will have something for everyone. No experience necessary!
Our fifth session provides a chance to catch-up and ask Q's about content from sessions 1-4. If you've been participating in our Boat Build Spring Project Series here's an opportunity to connect the dots, pick Evan's brain about the skiff's progress, and discuss content from our first four classes!
- An introduction to Boat Building
- Dimensioning Lumber
- Spline Joints
- Epoxy 101
*This session is recorded content from the LIVE event. Registrants will receive a link to access the video Q/A can peruse on their own timeline. and contact info to send any additional Q's to the instructor. Registration is available through the end of May.
Instructor Evan Mathiason is a lifelong woodworker. He recently completed an apprenticeship at the Arques School of Wooden Boatbuilding, focusing on traditional methods of construction, and is excited to share that experience with the MTL community through our Spring Project Series. Evan also has an interest in hand tool skills and green woodworking - including spoon and bowl carving. In his professional life, he's worked in politics, art, and commercial photography. Recently, he has been devoting most of his time to raising two young children, gardening and doing organizing work as a volunteer with MN350. He lives with his wife and kids on the West side of St Paul and hopes to continue expanding his practice of wood craft.
