Description

Join local horticulturalists, master gardeners, and green thumbs for a morning full of glorious garden activities centered around this year’s theme “Abundance for All.”

This FREE family-friendly event includes can’t-miss presentations and workshops, activity stations, and a garden gear swap. There's something for everyone to buzz about!

Schedule of events:

9 AM: Check-in

Grab a cup of coffee, check-in, and claim up to two presentation tickets (first come, first served).

9:15 AM - 12:00 PM: Hands-On Activity Stations 

Activity stations will include hyperlocal harvested native plant seeds from MN SEED; starting veggies from seed in resource-saving soil blocks and seed spirals; swapping items in the garden gear exchange; learning targeted garden tool care and repair from Minnesota Tool Library (9 - 11 AM); and discovering ways to share land, support your neighbors, grow more food, and steward a better, more abundant environment for all with our community organizations and guides.

9:15 - 10 AM: Presentation- Garden Prep on the Cheap

Prep an easy, no-till garden space with inexpensive, repurposed, recycled materials, mulching, and a little bit of time and sweat equity, resulting in better soil and a garden for all with Urban Roots Conservation Program Director, David Woods.

10:15 - 11 AM: Presentation- Rooted in the Garden: Mindfulness for Gardeners

Through touch, scent, taste, sound, and gentle nature-inspired movement, discover simple practices that help you slow down, ground yourself, and feel more connected while tending your garden with Forest Bathing Guide, Diana Erwin MSW LICSW.

11:15 AM - 12 PM: Presentation- Edible Natives and Herbs for the Home Garden

Explore herbs and native plants that are both beautiful and edible. Learn how to weave them into your flower and vegetable gardens to create vibrant spaces that support pollinators and add fresh flavor to your kitchen. We’ll cover how to grow, harvest, and enjoy them in daily cooking with MN SEED Executive Director, Courtney Tchida.

10 AM - 12 PM: Library Tours

Take a tour of the lending and workshop spaces of the St. Paul branch. See all of the cool tools available to rent and/or use in our shop!

12 PM: Door Prizes & Buzz Off
