Description

10 - 1pm

Brighton & Hove Food Partnership are looking for volunteers to help us at Stanmer Wellbeing Gardens. We are looking for adults who don’t mind getting stuck in and like to do physical outdoor activity.

Stanmer Wellbeing Gardens is our 4.5 acre site at Stanmer Park which is shared with 13 community groups. Our aims for the site are to have a thriving, community space where people can find sanctuary and nurture wellbeing through the provision of food-growing, gardening, education and nature connection activities.

We will be undertaking a mix of woodland conservation, gardening and practical activities. This is to transform currently unused parts of our site into community spaces.

The kind of things you can expect to get involved in:

• Bramble bashing and weeding

• Fire tending

• Coppicing & pruning

• Making pathways

• Planting hedgerows, herbs and flowers

• Meeting our friendly group of volunteers

Please bring clothes which are suitable for the weather and you don’t mind getting dirty or torn, sturdy boots and long-sleeved tops are also a good idea (there are nettles!). Please bring your own gardening gloves if you have them.

The session leader is Caroline Whiteman.

This session is only appropriate for people with minimal support needs. Please contact The Green Wellbeing Alliance via http://greenwellbeingalliance.org.uk for therapeutic gardening sessions.

If you have any questions about accessing the sessions, please give Rob a call on 01273 234810 or email rob@bhfood.org.uk Please contact us if you need help getting to Stanmer.
