COACHING WITH THEATRICAL AGENTS
3 CLASS SERIES starting Jan 25th, 2024
Elevate your career by studying with top industry insider
Elevate your career and sharpen your audition skills by working directly with shakers responsible for booking talent into Broadway’s biggest shows, and gain insight on what Agents are looking for when seeking new clients.
- Class One: You will workshop your audition materials with talent agent Matt Redmond from DGRW
- Class Two: You will workshop your audition materials with talent agent Barry Kolker from THE CARSON KOLKER ORGANIZATION
- Class Three: You will workshop your audition materials with talent agent Jim Daly from BLOC AGENCY
Class will begin each week at 7pm and each student will work one-on-one with the instructor on cuts of audition songs or monologues in a classroom setting. Each class will also include a short Q&A, information on the intricacies of the casting process and insight on what the auditioner can do to stand out.

Under the direction of Artistic Director, Jeff Whiting, Open Jar’s Professional Class Series provides unique opportunities for performers to continue to hone their skills and work one-on-one with Broadway’s best stars, directors, composers, agents, and casting directors.
Bios:
Matt Redmond has been with DGRW since 2017, where he started as an Assistant before becoming owner in 2020. Before DGRW, Matt spent time at Manhattan Theatre Club, The MUNY, and Feinstein’s/54 Below working in Directing and Producing. He graduated from Oklahoma City University with a BFA in Acting/Minor in Directing. He has been a Guest Teaching Artist for Oklahoma City University, The University of Oklahoma, The Hartt School, Elon University, University of Central Oklahoma, The Governor's School for the Arts, Broadway Method Academy, BroadwayPlus, Bridge to Broadway, and many more institutions. Additionally, he also serves on the Board of the National Association of Talent Representatives. Some of Matt’s most notable clients include Tony Nominee Jodi Benson (Ariel in Disney’s The Little Mermaid), Tony Nominee Melissa Errico (Amour, High Society, My Fair Lady), Obie Award Winner Kathleen Chalfant (House of Cards, The Affair), Emmy Nominee Janet Hubert (Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Love Life). Barry Kolker earned a BFA in acting from LIU/CW Post. At the age of 22, he decided to give up acting. Enjoying the art of the work and loving theater, film, and television, Barry segued and decided to work on "the other side of the desk". Barry has been in the talent agency business for 32 years. The Carson Kolker Organization Ltd is a NYC based boutique agency that represents children and adults for theater/film/television. Here are some highlights: Emmy Liu-Wang joined the cast of Raven's Home in the series regular role of Ivy for seasons 5 and 6 and plays Paige in the Disney film "The Slumber Party"; Michael Iskander and Fernell Hogan continue in their respective roles of Aaron and Martin in the 2023 Tony winner for Best Musical, Kimberly Akimbo; Noah Marlowe continues as the standby for Elder Cunningham in The Book Of Mormon on Broadway, and played the role for most of the month of December; Matthew Lamb left Ragtime at The Signature Theater to do the film The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, with client Mason Nelligan, and then will film the series regular role of Elliot on the upcoming ABC series, "High Potential"; Benjamin Pajak has worked throughout most of 2023:he finished his run in The Music Man on Broadway with Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster, and played the title role in Oliver! at both the Maltz Jupiter Theatre in Florida, and then at City Center Encores in NYC, and completed principal photography in the Sag Aftra interim agreement film "Life Of Chuck"; Ethan Joseph alternated as Little Michael in the national tour of MJ; Julian Villela made his professional debut as Young Simba in the national tour of The Lion King; Axel Bernard Rimmele shares the role of Christopher Hillard in the national tour of Mrs. Doubtfire; Amaya Braganza is seen as Eurydice in the national tour of Hadestown; Jonah Mussolino, Ethan Joseph, and Jayden Theophile, all performed at The Met; Pearl Gold was seen in the Tony winning Best play, Leopoldstadt; Robert Newman earned a Daytime Emmy nomination for his work on “The Young And The Restless” (Y&R).
Jim Daly has been the head of the Theatrical Department at Bloc NYC for over 15 years. He has clients in many hit Broadway shows including HARRY POTTER, SPAMALOT, KIMBERLY AKIMBO, HOW TO DANCE IN OHIO, & JULIET, SIX, HAMILTON, ALADDIN, and MOULIN ROUGE! Bloc clients are also featured on the tours of BEETLEJUICE, FROZEN, FUNNY GIRL, HAMILTON, and THE WIZ along with making regular appearances on episodics ranging from The Equalizer to SVU and FBI to Blue Bloods. Jim received his BFA from the University of Michigan.
