1003 Morris AvenueThis February, the Brigade of the American Revolution is proud to host a two-day Stays Workshop with renowned maker and interpreter Seán Considine at Liberty Hall at Kean University in Union, NJ. This immersive hands-on experience will guide participants through the historical methods of drafting and constructing 18th-century stays—one of the most essential foundation garments of the period. Over the course of the workshop, attendees will take their own measurements and draft a custom stay pattern from scratch, following the same principles used in the 18th century
The workshop continues with instruction on cutting the drafted pattern and beginning the process of construction. Participants will receive all materials needed for measuring and drafting, along with a detailed workbook and expert guidance throughout. The cost of the workshop is $200 per participant. While participants must bring or purchase their own stay-making materials, complete supply kits are available for an additional $50 for those who would like everything prepared in advance (Please note that binding and boning is not included).
