The Sewing Society of STL was founded in 2019 as a place for sewists in the St. Louis area to build an inclusive sewing community. In both an online and in-person setting we share our makes, ask sewing questions, give sewing advice, and meet for indie sew-alongs and open studio time. The member base has grown to nearly 3,500, and continues to grow as more people in the St. Louis area seek out a community to share in the joy of sewing. We'd love to sew with you soon!

β¨ STL Frocktails 2026 β¨
The runway is calling, St. Louis!
Join us for an afternoon of handmade fashion, creative inspiration, and community at STL Frocktails 2026, an annual celebration where sewists, makers, and handmade-fashion enthusiasts come together to connect, create, and show off their favorite makes.
Whether you're planning to strut down the runway in your latest masterpiece or simply want to cheer on fellow makers, STL Frocktails is for everyone who loves creativity, craftsmanship, and the joy of making something by hand.
What is STL Frocktails?
Hosted by the Sewing Society of STL, STL Frocktails is a celebration of the people, stories, and creativity that make our sewing community so special.
Come meet fellow sewists, discover new inspiration, find and support local maker-centric businesses, and spend an unforgettable afternoon surrounded by people who understand the excitement of finding the perfect fabric, finishing a challenging project, or wearing something you made yourself.
Don't want to walk the runway?
No problem!
You don't have to model to be part of the fun. If you sew regularly (or are just getting started), enjoy crafting and creative communities, or simply want a fun afternoon out to inspire future makes, you belong at Frocktails!
Bring your enthusiasm and get ready to celebrate the incredible talent within the St. Louis maker community.

2026 Theme: A Color Story
This year's theme invites you to explore the power of color and the stories it can tell.
A Color Story is all about using color intentionally, creatively, and expressively. Whether you're drawn to bold statement shades, soft tonal palettes, dramatic contrasts, or a single color from head to toe, we encourage you to think about how color can help tell the story behind your handmade look.
Need some inspiration? Consider:
A monochromatic outfit featuring varying shades and textures of the same color
A garment inspired by your favorite artwork, landscape, season, or destination
Unexpected color combinations that showcase your personal style
A color palette that reflects a mood, memory, or emotion
Prints, patterns, and color blocking that create visual impact
Colors that represent your heritage, hobbies, or creative influences
A favorite fabric whose colors inspired an entire outfit
Your interpretation can be as literal or as abstract as you'd like. There is no right or wrong way to participate. The goal is simply to celebrate creativity, craftsmanship, and the unique perspective that every maker brings to their work.
Whether you're wearing a rainbow of colors or a perfectly curated palette, we can't wait to see the story you choose to tell.
